Until ordering this book and shortly after beginning to read it, I realized just how much my own thinking was conditioned by Darwinian evolutionary theory. I personally began understanding the core logical flaw with Darwinian evolution over four years ago, namely the belief that complexity or sophistication can arise from the primitive. Yet despite noting this and thus dismissing Darwinian evolution as a theory of indisputable truth and explanatory power, it wasn't until I began reading this book that I started to realize how ingrained Darwinian theory was in my everyday thinking. As a consequence of purchasing and reading The End of Evolution, I have now educated myself much more and can see in more detail why Darwinian evolutionary theory is as much a dogma as any other.5 stars because I gained tremendous value for such a small price.

Lyons has created an incredibly challenging volume here, that manages to be both richly philosophical and very readable. I don't necessarily buy in to all that is being offered, and in fact some parts made me angry as a natural reaction to having my ingrained beliefs challenged at their most basic level. This is truly a ‘must read’ – if for no other reason than it provokes a long hard look at your fixed belief systems, which is essential for our growth as individuals and as a world society of individuals with different beliefs.

Lyons challenges the status quo of materialistic reductionism by providing powerful examples from nature that are inconceivable because the interconnected necessities makes the assertion that such phenomenon occurred from random interactions of chemicals, or chance mutations, ridiculous. When these natural phenomenon are looked at objectively from an unbiased viewpoint with healthy common sense, these assertions appear ludicrous, to the point of insanity.
Finally someone has written an intelligent book on evolution that is not polluted by "scientific" dogma. Its a great book, get read it, know the contents and come to your own rational conclusions, not based on simple submission to religions institutions or scientists or anyone else who claims authority over you thought processes and beliefs.
Martin Lyons argues in his intelligent, persuasive, and well-written book that the toxic philosophy of materialism--which has gotten us into this chaotic mess threatening our survival on the planet--is based on the belief that "matter is all that matters" and that the "linchpin" of this house of cards that is materialism is evolutionary theory. By the end of this book I began to see the absurdity of absolutely accepting evolution as the exhaustive and exclusive explanation of how life works, including its origins, purpose, consciousness, morality and spirituality. Reading this book helped me understand, as Lyons puts its, "the false metaphysics of evolution." He writes that "As far as food for thought goes, the theory of evolution lacks true nutritional value--the primary point of this book is to clear the plate."
If you are hungry for some provocative ideas and arguments to help you understand what life is all about, read this book.
This is simply the clearest presentation of this controversial issue I have read. The author presents the full range of scientific arguments pertinent to this debate in a manner that can be grasped by non-scientists. If you are interested to learn more about the deep flaws in the Darwinian model, presented in a highly factual context, look no further. I have studied this topic (peer-reviewed scientific papers) for over 40 years and am very impressed with how he has pulled it all together without emotionally-driven positioning. His logical arguments are nothing short of masterful.
A well thought-out examination of a modern-day religion (evolution), Lyons' book delivers a sorely needed black eye to very puffed up and arrogant people who base their premise on a predisposition of what they think is the case, i.e. they already believe in what they preach prior to looking at any data, which then feeds into their already conditioned position. An endless example of circular reasoning resulting in evolutionists falling deeper and deeper into a pit of self-deceived ignorance while stroking each others overly inflated egos, Lyons does an excellent job pointing this out.
I've contacted the author about the necessity of editing and reorganizing his book, and though editing, clarification and reorganization is needed here and there, Lyons' logic in "The End of Evolution?" stands on its own. A highly recommended book.
