Will the cosmos and all of the matter and subatomic particles it contains finally ebb away into nothing? Will time itself come to an end? For some unexplained reason, the expansion of the cosmos is accelerating. Whilst scientists think they know how the universe and matter came into existence-they aren't so sure how this massive unravelling puzzle will end up. Other questions are discussed such as, what is the half-life of a proton? What happens to matter and its constituent atoms when the universe ebbs to an end? This essay takes a look at these and other fascinating phenomena.

I was very impressed with how this book made quantum theory understandable for the lay person. It is a journey from the beginning of the universe to how life works at the quantum level. I was looking for a book to go a little more in depth. but it is definitely one I would recommend to my students. There were a few spelling errors such as Wan der Waals rather than Van der Waals, but it wasn't enough to detract from the content.Product details
